River Field Courses

After our principal, Cheryl Harrelson, co-authored “Stream Channel Reference Sites:  An Illustrated Guide to Field Technique”, she received many requests for hands-on training.  Our field courses offer the opportunity to practice mapping skills, to learn about analysis of that data, and to tour a variety of stream types and completed restoration projects.

We offered the following opportunities for the Summer of 2005 and are planning for 2006:

• June 26 – June 29, Dubois, Wyoming
Physical Aspects of Monitoring Stream Function” Wyoming Stream Team Workshop, Teton Science School.  Aimed at educators interested in incorporating stream monitoring into school curriculum.

• July 24 – July 29, Sheridan, Wyoming
Stream Channel Field Course:  Mapping and Assessment with Natural Channel Concepts.”  Aimed at professionals, field personnel and technicians, and undergraduate/graduate students in natural resources fields, this course was developed in cooperation with Dr. Tim Keane and can be taken for 3 credit hours through Kansas State University.
